Who we are

My website address is: https://jordynkross.com.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Privacy is important to me, so I take your privacy seriously as well.

Comments

When leaving a comment on this website, you will be asked for
your name, which will be used to identify you within the discussion, but is optional
your email, which helps prevent spam as well as allowing you to use services like Gravatar to show your photo next to the comment.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

This information will be stored in my webhost’s database in order to keep your comment on display. I will never share the information you provide when posting a comment, nor will I use it to contact you. You have the right to request that I remove this information frommy webhost’s database and delete the comment; if you would like to make such a request, please contact me.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Email Subscription

When you sign up to my newsletter, you are only getting my newsletter. I will not be sending anything else to you.

I will ask your email, so I know where to send the newsletters.

I use Mailerlite to send out my newsletter, and your details are stored by Mailerlite. They are “GDPR Compliant” as well, which means they only store the minimum data they need to send my emails, and they will not contact you themselves. You may contact them at any time to have your name removed.

I use analytics that let me track the number and type of clicks in each email. It is possible that this may be protected data (there are still uncertain areas of this regulation), and I promise to you no matter if it is or not, that I will only use the information in the aggregate.

NOT THIS “Wow! Babs from reader.com didn’t click anything!”
BUT THIS “Only 127 people out of 5,000 clicked this link. I wonder how I could make this more attractive to my readers?”

Unsubscribe

You can unsubscribe from my newsletter at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link in any of the emails I’ve sent you. Unsubscribe means I will remove you from my mailing list. Mailerlite may still have you in their records as a past subscriber. Neither Mailerlite nor I will contact you again. If you wish to be completely erased from all databases, please contact me.

Who we share your data with

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

I will never give or sell your data to anyone else. I hate it when that’s done to me, and I will never do it to one of my treasured readers!
If you ever feel uncomfortable with the way I’m using your data, please tell me. I never want you to feel uncomfortable.
